We are currently reviewing development for this capability. Our first concern is to ensure your bookkeeping stands up to any audit or review. Because our software may use a different database protocol than other systems, it requires Crystal Reports in order to retrieve information. Crystal provides a way of reporting data without compromising the integrity of the database.

Rest assured, we will keep striving to make our software more usable while keeping the data secure, and the system as configurable as possible.

As a former bank auditor and current Denali user, I shudder when I hear of 'easily customizable' reports. While I agree it is a pain to use Crystal or have Cougar Mountain support staff make the changes, the risk to some industries is huge. For example, I use Denali for a local municipality. Our township clerks are elected. They may or may not understand governmental accounting. Most auditors require financial statements to be prepared by the software and not manipulated in any way. To easy customize a report would create a situation where the data could be manipulated to hide fraud, the software produce the report, the auditor not know any different and the report changed back.

Rather than customize the reports, I like the Cougar Mountain approach to adding configurations to the report menu itself. Their quality control for design would ensure that all data is considered and the report title or footer could clarify the configuration settings used to generate the report.
